Feillu charged from 3rd place at the start of the final stage to clinch =

title in nail-biting fashion.
Palomares and Feillu were dead =

the finish line, requiring race officials to consider last =

Palace prologue times as a tie-breaker. Feillu was then crowned 2007 =
Tour of=20
Britain champion by the tiny margin of just 0.49 seconds ahead of =
Palomares and=20
Australia=E2=80=99s Luke Roberts.

Although overall victory on the 2007 Tour escaped the =
top UK=20
riders, fans were treated to a series of British victories in the =
individual=20
competitions.
In the overall stage 6 race Birmingham=E2=80=99s =
Paul Manning took=20
the win in his last Tour of Britain appearance. Manxman Mark Cavendish =
took the=20
sprints title and the Green jersey for the points competition, while Ben =
Swift=20
was crowned =E2=80=98King of the Mountains=E2=80=99. =
Scotland=E2=80=99s Evan Oliphant was the=20
highest-placed British finisher overall coming home in 16th=20
position.
